I went over and read the thread.
To me, this whole debate is akin to closing the barn door after the horses escape.
When you have a large number of people seeing no big deal, this habit is guaranteed to continue! |

The best way to stop switching is to come up with some kind of a system to certify a watch as "original"
This might be some kind of a certificate that you can apply for or some other kind of thing. I am sure something could be set up.
In a similar way to getting coins officially graded.
This will increase the value of un molested watches and thus hopefully protect them.
As it stand things get switched mainly because it increases the value of the item in question.
I am pretty sure all those loose dials getting sold are not just going to dial collectors.
Telling people not to do it is a waste of breath. Profit will always out. |
