Hi, I could not resist this movement at the price I got it for US32.00 plus post and GST. I had not seen one of this type of movement before. It has 4 Platinum Timing Screws. It was made for H White in Manchester and has lost the possibly Gold Case. Regards Ray https://www.grovana-rt.ch/en/History.htm

I asked my friend, a UK Watchmaker who specializes in English Pocket Watches; Verge etc. About the Timing Screws. Hi Ray,

That's a respectable watch by Thommen.

Platinum is slightly more dense than gold, 21.45g/mL against 19.3g/mL (for pure gold, which the other timing screws won't be, and they'll be even lower), and it has a lower coefficient of thermal expansion, 9 against 14, both desirable properties for these screws. I suspect it was used mostly because of its density, and of course it's non-tarnishable as well.

An interesting and lovely movement, Ray.

I am happy that you won it!
