I was given a 4 oz, coin, A.W.Co., Waltham, Pat. Apr.22.79 swing ring case that is missing the bezel.

Besides, slim to no chance, I was wondering what are the chances of finding a bezel that will fit the case. From edge to edge, it is 6 cm (2 & 2/3 inch) across the middle of the case.

To me, a 4 oz case is worth a try to find a bezel.

My experience is that these are made as a pair and each is unique. That is why they are numbered. Add to that each has worn a different way and it gets even harder. You may find something that will screw on but chances are you will still have to do some re finishing to get that beautiful, almost invisible join tween the 2 parts. You may be able to find a case that is damaged but has a usable bezel and then work from there. Bezel lots do turn up on Ebay from time to time but it is often hard to tell what make of case they came from. Good Luck

I am not adding anything to the solution but, how can bezels get lost? It appears that this happens often enough to make me wonder who is eating them up.
I try to avoid purchasing any case without a bezel even if I have spares laying around that I purchased on occasion. Whow, am I eating them if I purchase them? Why are the ones I purchased separated from their cases? Anyhow, they are difficult to mate with cases and require much time and effort. I purchased a case without one in the last year knowing that I will never find a replacement because it is an 8s Rockford. However, I wanted the movement so bit the bullet. Maybe some day someone will spew it back up and I will find it.

Thanks for the replies.

I kind of figured the chances to find a bezel for it would be slim to none. Since it hasn't cost me anything I will just hold on to it. You never know at some point in time I might get lucky.

Darrah, I know what you are saying about bezel-less cases. A friend of mine has a bunch on silveroid cases without bezels. He bought the watches for the movement. His cases are a source parts but he has always wondered what happened to all the bezels.

Bezels get removed and are not placed back, so they get separated from ther frame and when watchmakers' estates and repair folks pass their stuff is usally not orderly. Also, case switchers and scrapers usually have a bunch of left over components. For gold and GF, bezels are many times saved. A good bezel is also saved from a damaged case.

I just finished mowing the lawn in the Houston heat and humidity so refreshment seemed more important than getting bezels married. I have since regained my sanity.
