Famous horologist and author Archie Perkins has passed away

Archie Perkins passed away peacefully Thursday eve 1/26/2016. Archie was a prolific horological author/teacher/illustrator who was an independent bundle of energy up to the end (93+ years). Archie taught watch and clockmaking in Denver, wrote numerous articles on repair and restoration for the Horological Times, the magazine of the American Watch-Clockmakers Institute. He was a talented illustrator and did beautiful drawings for his articles. Later his many articles became the basis of a series of books of which you can find on Amazon. Most recently he released Antique Watch Restoration Volumes 1 & 2. These are the most modern books available on antique watch repair to date. Archie was active with the Denver and Boulder groups, attended the regionals, and acted as a tutor/mentor to may of us newbies. A hybrid of a Timex watch that kept on ticking and the Energizer Bunny, he will be greatly missed (I was hoping for Antique Watch Restoration Vols 3, 4, & 5).

The Obituary will be in the Sunday Denver Post and the funeral is Thursday, February 2nd. Here are the details:
