Bushfires have shaped Australia for millennia and our human activities (world-wide) have shaped bushfires.

Here is a fine painting entitled "Gippsland - Sunday Night 1897", by John Longstaff, held at the National Gallery of Victoria.

Like Stephen, I live in Melbourne. We get smoke, here, but the fires are generally hundreds, or even thousands, of kilometres away from us. We feel quite helpless when we see the plight of so many.

If you have friends in the bush as I do they will tell you this has been on the cards for some time because the "EXPERTS" won't listen to the people who actually know what they are talking about.

Fire is part of the Australian environment and we will never stop it.
We need to learn to live with it and prepare for it.

Allowing tree huggers to go and build houses in the bush in the middle of big stands of trees and let them build them out of wood is not a good plan in this part of the world.

Here is what our friends in the Shire of Indigo have to put up with.

Wodonga and Beechworth are in this shire.

Removing a tree and other native vegetation
You may need a planning permit to remove or cut down a tree, shrubs or other native vegetation if any of the following apply:
The property is covered by a heritage overlay; or
Your land is over 4000 square metres in area; or
Your land is in an Environmental Significance Overlay; or
Any of the landscaping has been identified in a landscape plan approved as part of a planning permit.
Before you remove or lop vegetation please check what planning controls apply to the land.
Removing trees without the proper approvals can lead to large fines.
Where a planning permit is required to remove native vegetation Clause 52.17 of the Indigo Planning Scheme sets out the information you need to provide with your application. Applications are normally required to be referred to the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) who have a minimum period of 28 days to provide comment.
If you wish to remove a tree because it is dangerous it is advisable to obtain a report from a suitably qualified arborist on the health and safety of the tree.
If an arborist report identifies that the tree presents an immediate risk of personal injury or damage to property, a planning permit may not be required to lop or remove the tree. Please note that the risk must be immediate and not simply something that might occur in the next few years. You may also be required to verify this and an arborist's report can assist with this.
If the tree is within the road reserve (such as a street tree) other restrictions may apply and you will require specific consent from the land manager; Council or VicRoads.

The smoke in Melbourne is very bad today.

A number of sporting events have been cancelled and the Werribee races are off as well.

People are being advised to stay indoors if they can.

The fire brigade had around 200 false alarm overnight due to smoke alarms going off.

This lot of smoke is from the Gippsland fires and will persist till tomorrow when the wind shifts.

A bit of History

Eighty-one years ago (13th January 1939) with temperatures above 110°F (45°C) across Victoria and the state in drought, bushfires consumed 3,700 buildings across the state, 71 lives were lost and 5 towns completely destroyed- never to be rebuilt.

The Royal Commission into ‘’Black Friday’’ concluded;

“There had been no fires to equal these in destructiveness or intensity in the history of settlement in this State, except perhaps the fires of 1851, which, too, came at summer culmination of a long drought”.

‘’At midday, in many places, it was dark as night. Men carrying hurricane lamps, worked to make safe their families and belongings Travellers on the highways were trapped by fires or blazing fallen trees, and perished. Throughout the land there was daytime darkness’.’

“The speed of the fires was appalling. They leaped from mountain peak to mountain peak, or far out into the lower country, lighting the forests 6 or 7 miles in advance of the main fires. Blown by a wind of great force, they roared as they travelled. Balls of crackling fire sped at a great pace in advance of the fires, consuming with a roaring, explosive noise, all that they touched.‘’

‘’On that day it appeared that the whole State was alight.”

Ergo - Every child in every Australian school should be taught about the events of ‘Black Friday’ 1939 to give them an understanding and appreciation of the extreme danger of the Australian bush.

However keeping them ignorant of Australia’s bushfire history makes it far easier to radicalise them and recruit them into the Climate Cult.

As Orwell noted;

“The most effective way to destroy people is to deny and obliterate their own understanding of their history.”

And yet today we are being told by our leaders that this is the NEW NORMAL? Oh, no, this time is DIFFERENT ---- now we are being brainwashed into believing the GOSPEL of the NEW religion of CLIMATE CHANGE!

Those who ignore history are bound to repeat it – only this time it has a new and dangerous name, and a global religion behind it. The altar has been built and our gullibility is about to be offered upon it!!

‘CLIMATE CHANGE’ PROPONENTS WOULD HAVE YOU BELIEVE THAT BUSHFIRES NEVER OCCURRED IN AUSTRALIA UNTIL ‘CLIMATE CHANGE’ CAME ALONG.

It is good to report that many of the fires are now out due to rain.

A huge storm system is moving down the east coast and is heading our way.

Some places have actually got a bit much rain which is causing flooding.

In the last 24 hours Sydney copped 170 mm of rain.

East Gippsland should get it today.

They are now on flood alert which I suspect they won't mind so much.
