They are busy with the task at hand except for the youngest on the back who has got Dad's mobile for a loan.
Didn't look up the whole time he was on there.

The model is based on this engine although the full sized one has had a rebuild since the model was made and is a bit different now with the pump at the front now hidden inside the tank.

I have no plans to change mine.

He was lucky that he didn't cross paths with a bull.

Here is an old archive pic that I found on the net.
It is currently held by the State Library.

It is from around 1886 and shows a steam train with the staff of the station it is at posed on and around it.

The thing that will interest you is the number of watch chains in evidence.
I have circled them in white.
Likely most others had watches we can not see or had a more discreet chain or fob on it.

Anyway enjoy

A bit more Victorian Railways archival film.

Interesting to note the steam engines are gone.

All the wagons they are pulling are gone.

Most of the lines they are running on are closed.

This is not a steam train but still a preserved engine.
Way back in the 1950's we got a bunch of streamliners.

The S class were for the crack express passenger trains.
All had streamlined ends but some were streamlined both ends. Not often seen outside VR.

These things gave fantastic service and some are still going.

A number are in preservation but get called back to service when times get busy.
You would think they would be a bit gentle with the old girls but no.
They still get pushed to the limit.

If you ever come to Melbourne and decide on a ride on Puffing Billy that's easy.

If perhaps you want something more the "Commissionaires Special might be for you.

Here is some highlights.

This is part 2. Part 1 and 3 are easily found if you want them.

All the model train clubs are closed at the moment due to the lockdown but fortunately I have one of these.

No rails needed.
